President Dynes' visit to Redding, Oct. 2004

President Dynes runs with students at Shasta Community College in the North State. After the run, President Dynes met with faculty, leadership and UC-bound students (many of them transfer students) and their parents at the college.

UC Inland Fisheries Specialist Lisa Thompson demonstrates for President Dynes how local fish and salmon populations are cataloged on George & Christine McArthur's JS Ranch near Redding.

President Dynes speaks to UC’s educational partners in the North State at the Sun Dial Bridge in Redding. A recently established, intersegmental “College Going Initiative” – partially funded by the Redding-based McConnell Foundation – has dramatically increased college-going rates in the region.

President Dynes visits Mercy Medical Center in Redding to learn how UC-trained doctors are delivering health care to some of the remotest regions of the North State through telemedicine.

President Dynes speaks to UC’s local agricultural partners at a lunch hosted by Redding’s Sierra Pacific Industries, one of the nation's leading lumber, millwork and window manufacturers. Earlier in the day, the president met with UC researchers at Sierra Pacific who have helped the company increase efficiency and meet environmental standards.
