Regent-Designate Yolanda Nunn Gorman


 

Yolanda Nunn Gorman is President and Chief Executive Officer of Brilliance Strategies, Inc. a full service management consulting firm that specializes in nonprofit organizational development. In addition, she serves as Interim Dean and chairs a doctoral program in organizational consulting at Phillips Graduate Institute in Encino, California. A three-time graduate of UCLA, Dr. Gorman holds a B.A. in psychology, an M.B.A. from the Anderson School and a Ph.D. in education. During her career, Dr. Gorman has assisted private foundations, school districts, universities, and community and faith-based organizations with board development, strategic planning, resource development and research and evaluation. An active volunteer with multiple community, civic and cultural organizations, Dr. Gorman is currently the chair of the board of directors of the California Association of Nonprofits (CAN), Co-chair of the Chaka Khan Foundation and the immediate past-president of the UCLA Alumni Association. Her involvement with the Association was launched with her participation in the inaugural class of the Alumni Academy. Since then she has served on the UCLA Board first as director, then vice president and president-elect. In 2005 she led the Association's strategic planning process, developing a new plan to guide the organization into the future. Dr. Gorman's other volunteer activities include serving as a member of the boards of the UCLA Foundation, CAN Insurance Services, and the National Council of Nonprofit Associations (NCNA). She is also a member of the editorial board of the UCLA Magazine and the author of several articles and papers on nonprofit capacity building and small business management. Dr. Gorman serves as Regent-designate and Treasurer of the Alumni Associations of UC (AAUC) for a one-year term commencing July 1, 2008. Effective July 1, 2009, she will serve a one-year term as ex-officio Regent and AAUC Vice President.
