Reputation matters. And the University of California enjoys a fine one: Six campuses are listed in the Times Higher Education World Reputation Rankings, released today (March 11).
UC Berkeley, ranked sixth, and UCLA, ranked 13th, are the top ranked public universities in the global list. UC San Francisco is ranked 38th; UC San Diego, 41st; and UC Davis, 44th. UC Santa Barbara is listed in the 61-70 bracket.
The World Reputation Rankings are based on the world's largest invitation-only academic opinion survey to list the top 100 most powerful global university brands. A spin-off of the annual Times Higher Education World University Rankings, the reputation league table is based on "subjective judgment — but it is the considered expert judgment of senior, published academics," according to the Times Higher Education site.
