It’s a time of elation and celebration, and the culmination of years of hard work: That moment when high school students learn that they’ve been admitted to the University of California.

This year, more students than ever are getting the happy news.
UC received a record 206,000 applications for fall 2016. To help meet the growing demand, UC plans to enroll 10,000 more California undergrads over the next three years, including 5,000 more students this fall.
UC attracts the best and brightest students from all backgrounds, and prides itself on being what the New York Times called a “social mobility machine” for California residents. Not only are four out of five UC undergrads from California, but 42 percent are among the first in their families to attend college and 40 percent come from low-income households. More than half of current undergrads pay no systemwide tuition and fees, thanks to UC's strong financial aid program.
UC salutes all those who received offers of admission. They worked hard to get here, and campuses are excited to welcome them to the UC community.
