UC Berkeley and UCLA are the top ranked public universities in the 2015-16 Times Higher Education World University Rankings.
Overall, UC Berkeley ranked 13th and UCLA was 16th. Eight UC campuses made this year's rankings, which were released Sept. 30 and lists 800 institutions, up from 400 in previous years. Universities in the United States dominated, with 147 making the list.
The California Institute of Technology topped the ranking for the fifth straight year.
Times Higher Education bases its rankings on 13 factors that examine teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook.
UC campuses are routinely top-rated in university rankings, including those from Washington Monthly, U.S. News and World Report, and the Department of Education’s College Scorecard.
