U.S. News & World Report's annual list of the nation's best graduate schools ranked University of California campuses highly in dozens of categories.
The rankings evaluate more than 1,200 graduate programs every year in business, law, medicine, engineering and education, and special disciplines within these categories. The magazine periodically ranks other fields, and this year's 2014 edition included updated rankings in social sciences and humanities, and library science and information studies.
U.S. News & World Report said its ranking methodologies vary by discipline, but among the criteria for most programs were admissions selectivity and expert opinions on quality. Job-placement statistics were also used to gauge the effectiveness of business schools and law schools along with salary data factored into the business school rankings.
