UC President Michael V. Drake statement on the American Dream and Promise Act

University of California President Michael V. Drake, M.D., today (Feb. 27) issued the following statement on the re-introduction of the American Dream and Promise Act:

“The University of California strongly supports the reintroduction of the bipartisan American Dream and Promise Act. We urge Congress to act swiftly to provide permanent protections for undocumented youth, including DACA recipients. These individuals are integral to our university and to our nation, contributing as scholars, researchers, and future leaders in fields critical to our economy and society. The University of California remains steadfast in its commitment to supporting them as they pursue their educational and professional goals. We call on lawmakers to pass this vital legislation and uphold our nation’s promise to those who have either called this country home for most of their lives or are seeking opportunities to pursue the American dream.”
