University of California President Michael V. Drake, M.D., today (May 10) issued the following statement on Gov. Gavin Newsom’s 2024-25 revised budget proposal:
“This is a challenging budget period for California, and Gov. Newsom’s revised budget proposal reflects that reality. For more than 150 years, the University has improved the lives of Californians through transformative educational opportunities, life-saving medical care, and research that fuels innovation and drives economic vitality across the state. We look forward to working with the state Legislature and Gov. Newsom in the weeks ahead to finalize a budget that sustains the University’s research, public service, and education mission – for the benefit of all Californians.”
