UC Irvine emerged victorious after a tight race to the finish in the first Cool Campus Challenge.

A paper on climate change by UC Berkeley professor Anthony Barnosky inspired the new film "Demain." 

All eyes will be on Paris next week as the nations of the world come together to negotiate the future of the planet at the 2015 UN Climate Conference (COP-21), and California will be at the table.

UC President Napolitano, together with all 10 UC chancellors, joined the White House and universities around the country in urging world leaders to take decisive action on climate change.

Leadership award winners are influencers in diversity, entrepreneurialsm, sustainability and other key issues.

The fellowships will fund projects, from the classroom to the operating room, that will steer the UC system toward its carbon neutrality goal.

Select instructors at each campus will work with students on projects aimed at building community engagement and awareness.

Professor and four students will work to engage the campus on climate change related issues in the coming year.

These solutions offer a practical framework outlining both immediate and longer-term actions for moving toward carbon neutrality.
